Sculpture Park – Maeght Foundation, Saint-Paul-de-Vence

Lawns shaded by umbrella pines and closed by low dry-stone walls surround the Foundation's buildings, with large sculptures set directly on the grass: a black rock-like mass, a brightly painted twisting figure, bronzes and a rusty steel frame. Aimé and Marguerite Maeght wanted their foundation, opened in 1964 on a hill above Saint-Paul-de-Vence, to show art in nature as much as in its galleries.
