Keep and southern fortifications of Loches – Royal City of Loches

The great square keep rises behind its entrance building, beside the Governor's Lodge and the round Louis XI Tower, with ruined outworks in front. Built by Foulques Nerra, Count of Anjou, between 1013 and 1035, the 36-metre tower was surrounded with new defences between the 12th and 15th centuries.
