Gargouille – Joan Miró – Maeght Foundation, Saint-Paul-de-Vence

A green and black ceramic head with goggling eyes juts out of the dry-stone wall and spits a stream of water into a shallow pool below a pergola. Joan Miró created this Gargoyle for his Labyrinth, the garden of sculptures and ceramics he made for the Maeght Foundation with the ceramist Josep Llorens Artigas, inaugurated in 1964.
