Seen from Odeonsplatz in the snow, the long west front of the Residenz along Residenzstraße is painted with architectural decoration and opens through two marble portals guarded by bronze lions, with the Feldherrnhalle at the right. This facade was created under Maximilian I in the early 17th century and rebuilt in simplified form after the Second World War.
