Commode after Guillaume Beneman – Rundāle Palace, Latvia

A mahogany commode with fluted columns and gilt-bronze arabesques around a central medallion carries a white marble top, a bust and two gilt-bronze ewers. This 19th-century French piece copies the commode that Guillaume Beneman made in 1786 for Marie-Antoinette's games room at Fontainebleau.
