The ceiling of the Gold Hall opens onto a sky full of clouds where allegorical figures, putti carrying flower garlands and winged genii glorify the duke. The Italian painters Francesco Martini and Carlo Zucchi painted it in the 1760s, when Ernst Johann Biron, back from exile, had the palace completed.
